Girl's Vaca

Now that I've had my computer back for about a week, I've finally gotten around to posting about the girl's vaca that Michelle, Sue, and I took back at the end of June. Check out my blog to read about it and see some pictures.

Two Tails Ranch and Other Stuff

Alice mentioned that I hadn't posted anything about my quilts, etc. lately, so I'll do that later, but first I wanted to share some photos of our visit today to Two Tails Ranch in Williston,FL.

Since Merle loves elephants, I thought he would enjoy this 67 acre elephant sanctuary. Unfortunately, there are only three elephants in residence right now and a few other critters. They say, over the years, they have had as many as 300 elephants visiting at one time. They have boarded elephants for circuses, developed a breeding program for Ringling Bros., and taken in elephants needing housing during hurricanes and other disasters.

You can view my photo album at Snapfish (I hope - if not, let me know and I'll "share" them with you via the site.).

Now for quilts and other projects I've been working on. I've made about 50 lap robes for the church to give to nursing homes. I've made a bunch of the little cross-body purses I'm selling. I've made at least one small quilt and a couple of wall hangings.

Clever Mojo Games at Origins 2011

Part of being a game publisher is attending game conventions. Yes, there are conventions dedicated gaming...heck, there's probably a convention dedicated to bathtub duckies somewhere. So, anyway, there are two big game conventions in the US, Origins in June and GenCon in August. Fred and I took Clever Mojo Games to Origins and it was great fun!

Origins ran from Thursday to Sunday. We brought the last 80 games of our second print run and hoped to sell out by the end of the con...we sold out on Friday. AF was a hot hot game.

Fred was running demo games in the back of the booth and I was selling the game at the front. It was great to meet so many happy fans and some of the biggest game publishers (Mayfair, Z-Man, and AEG) were coming up to say how much they liked Alien Frontiers.

One of our friends, Marc Specter, ran an Alien Frontiers tournament in which over 100 players vied for the top four slots. The final game was held on Sunday morning and pitted three seasoned male gamers against a petite, not-yet-18, young lady.

Guess who won! Kay Turner took home the way-oversized champions t-shirt, a plaque, a game card autographed by Tory, and a $40 gift certificate to our distributors game store. You go girl!

We spent the rest of the weekend gaming and shopping and hanging out with new friends. When we wrapped up on Sunday and packed in the booth, we were tired but very happy. We'll be back next year!

Fred will hate me for this, but one of the games we played was "Time's Up: Title Recall". It's Taboo and Charades all mixed up and tons of fun. Here are a couple of videos.
