Christmas in July

Does anyone know if dates were officially set for the Christmas in July? In looking back the only thing I could find was Barbara getting tickets for July 12-19. The reason I am asking is I may try to come out sometime during the summer.

A trip to the hospital.....

ends with crutches. Well, it's official, I do something silly like move a dresser drawer and it land on my left foot and I end up with crutches for 5 days.

Seriously, I was carrying an empty drawer down the stairs, it slipped out of my hand and it landed directly on my left foot, big toe. I was like, man my foot really hurts. I take the shoe off and my foot is covered in blood. How exciting. So, dave took me to the hospital, I got xrays, only to find out that my foot is severely bruised and swollen and I may lose my toe nail. I know graphic details, sorry. So, I must keep it elevated for a few days, ice it regularly and use the crutches. I was also given vicadin if needed. They have informed me that my foot will get progressively worse, the next two days before it gets better. So, we will see what happens.

Okay, that's my rant, time to sleep and elevate the foot.

A Change In The Weather

We had a little change in the weather today...for the worse. Here are some before pictures (taken one week ago) and some after pictures that I just snapped. Brrrrr. I'm cold just looking at them...and it's still snowing!

UPDATE: Well, the snow's over now...snowed fairly heavy for eight hours or more. When I go outside now I can hear the snow melting and dripping from the trees, and the sidewalks are already mostly clear. At it's heaviest, we probably had more than 4". Extra photos are added below. Eric said he heard on the news that it was the latest snow in about 30 or 40 years.

The dress....

has arrived and I have it now. I picked up my dress this past Saturday and my dad and stepmom were able to be there when I tried it on. It fits great. And probably won't need alterations, which I am excited about. Now the question of the hour is, do I buy shoes from the same store(because they can dye them to match), or do I go elsewhere. It would be $52 for a pair of shoes and there are 3 of us that would need them. We all kind of agree that, that is a lot of money to spend on a pair of shoes that we may only wear once. Decisions, decisions.

Things are really starting to come together. My dad has leads on a photographer for me, so that is great. We are trying to keep it as someone that is a family friend, rather than hire a professional, because Dad will be taking pictures when he isn't in them. And a family friend won't charge as much. Although dad said he is paying for the photog.

Our ceremony and reception are going to be in the same building, which is reserved and we are getting a crazy good deal. And I just found out, that we can have live piano music at the ceremony(assuming the piano is in good condition). Because my maid of honor can't be here for all the planning, she wants to play the music at the ceremony. While this is untraditional, we aren't a traditional couple. She just wouldn't be able to walk down the aisle for the ceremony. I think this is fine. Perhaps we can stage photos later, with her walking down the aisle or something. Either way, it's gonna be exciting.

Now here is a question for you all. And I ask because some of you seem to be advanced in this technilogical age. Where can I get a video recorder for a reasonable price? I don't even know what styles they have now. I assume, most of them are digital or something like that. We were thinking of having the ceremony video taped, but didn't want to pay a videotographer. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I guess that's it for now.

Picture This...

As we all know, Dad was instrumental in keeping his sister, Linda, connected to the family. He would send here print outs of photos and blog entries so she didn't feel all alone. I want to keep that connection going but I want to make it a family project and to make it a little "techy" and "unique" too. So, I'm going to purchase a Pandigital Digital Photo Frame for her. According to the info I've found, it's easy to use and plays JPG photos, MP3 audio files, and even video files. I'll have it shipped to me and I'll get it all set up and then I'll send it to her. What I'd like the family to do is periodically put a bunch of photos or videos or music files onto cheap USB flash drives that I'll supply to you so you can mail them to her. She can plug them right into the frame and look at the photos and watch the videos and listen to our music or audio greetings. Let me know if you want some of the flash drives and I'll ship them to you when they arrive.

BTW, this photo was taken this morning and shows some of the tulips that are just starting to bloom in our yard.

Place in Florida

My understanding is that you all have a place in Florida, like a condo(vacation home). I was just curious as to the location of it. I never really heard where.

Mom feels guilty

I just talked with Mom and little while ago and she feels that she may have been rude with you, David, on the phone. She hopes she didn't upset you in any way and apologizes if she did.

She is having a very difficult time with all this and doesn't understand why this still bothers her. I told her that we all deal with situations like this differently and everyone has their own methods of coping. Healing will take time and for some, the healing process takes longer.

Anyway, I really just wanted to share her apologies, because she was feeling a bit guilty. Also, she mentioned that you wanted to know where to mail my package. If you would be willing to mail it to Pittsfield, I will pick it up there.

With my new training, etc, it's hard to tell when someone will be around to receive a package.

I hope that everyone is doing okay and if there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.

Me
