Family Photos

Since such a large portion of the family was here for Dad's remembrance, Alice thought it would be the perfect time for some professional family portraits. Dad was gracious enough to pay for the sitting and the results turned out really well. We purchased 8x10s of all the best shots and Eric will be scanning them in so we can reprint them at will.

For now, you can access the pics online at this link: https://smilestore.picturepeople.com/pn/tpp/login

We joined their Portrait Club so when Barb and Esther and Keven and Timmy come out in July we can do some additional poses and get discounts and reprints and other stuff.

In Memorium

William Douglas MacKenzie, 68, of Lynnwood WA, passed away in his home on March 22, 2008, of a heart attack. Doug retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant in 1981 after 23 years of service in which he was stationed across the United States and Overseas. He was a member of St. Tammany’s Masonic Lodge #5 in Hampton VA and did volunteer work for a number of organizations such as local and national offices of The Muscular Dystrophy Association, Summit Assistance Dogs of Anacortes WA, and DeMolay International. He attended Lynnwood Calvary Chapel. Doug was always quick to lend a hand to anyone who needed help—family, friend, or stranger—and he will be missed by all.

Doug is survived by his ex-wife Ruth Nott of Chiefland FL, his brother Fredrick W. MacKenzie of Colchester VT, his sister Linda Keddrell of Pittsfield ME, his children W. David MacKenzie, Peggy Overbey, and Fredrick H. MacKenzie all of Edmonds WA, his grandson John W. MacKenzie of Florence AZ, and his nieces Tarja Keddrell and Darcy McPherson.

The family will hold a private remembrance and may be contacted through his son’s email account at wdmackenzie@comcast.net. Those who knew and loved Doug are encouraged to make donations in his name to Summit Assistance Dogs (summittdogs.org), The Muscular Dystrophy Association (mda.org), or Mended Hearts (mendedhearts.org).

Rest in peace, Dad.

This obituary is available online HERE.

It has been pointed out that I forgot to mention Doug's nephews (Linda's sons) Ricky & Robbie. I am very sorry. I cannot change the published obit at this point, but I offer my apologies, nonetheless.

I know this isn't the place, but I just wanted to say that I am sorry. Mom let me know this morning. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. I will be with mom later this afternoon so if you want to reach us by phone you can contact us at her number. Again I know this isn't the place to send my regards, but having to go to work today, I am unable to make calls personally right at this time. My thoughts are with you.

Love
Tarja

Wedding Update

Well, Dave and I took mom to Bangor, for my birthday and for wedding stuff. And overall we accomplished a lot.

She did buy a dress for the wedding, but she may decide to return it, if her surgeon can get rid of her basketball size bubble(where her feeding tubes were). Anyway, it's a greyish blue color. Very suiting for her.

We also met with the caterer. He gave us quite a deal and I don't know why we were any different than any other client.
But basically he gave us a modified menu for the price of $12/person(inclusive of all fees), this is amazing, considering the menu normally would have cost $17/person(inclusive of all fees).
And he is giving us a $100 discount on the hall because we will be out by the time he requested. Awesome. Ooh. It get's better. There is a possibility that we will have two rooms. One for the ceremony and one for the reception. And if the room is available we can have our rehearsal at his facility too. All for no extra charge. The best part. No money is due until October. Woohoo! Gives us plenty of time to save up and get RSVPS.

We also met with one florist, who might be the most reasonable of all in the area. My guestimate is about $300 total for flowers. A far cry from the average of $20,000 for a rich wedding or hollywood wedding.

And by us staying at the Fairfield Inn we were able to see if we wanted this hotel for out of town guests. While the front desk staff is very rude, the actual room and pool area was very pleasant, so it will probably be the hotel of choice.

I guess that's it. I hope all is well.

Seattle in July

I think I've asked this before, but I don't remember if anyone answered. Are we doing Christmas in July?

Only Have A Small Lot?

Try this innovative new way to park your mobile home!

Actually, this home was specially placed by God during a tornado which struck in Lake City, FL last Friday. Others homes in the area were destroyed. There were several tornadoes that day, but thankfully none near us. Normally you expect to see nothing but splinters left of a mobile home after a tornado, but somehow all it did to this one was tip it on its side. The four people inside escaped afterward from a kitchen window with minor injuries. Amazing!

Killing 2 birds

Okay - I'm killing 2 birds /w one stone (or post I should say) . . . Last Wednesday, Keven got braces. He is doing good, he is just sore and is adjusting to what he can and can't eat. And he gets pretty grumpy when he is hungry and feels like he can't eat anything. But he is fine. He will have to wear them for approximately 2 years.

The 2nd bird is the symmetrical wall thing I found at Lowe's Home Improvement for my kitchen wall (the alcove area where my dinette is located). It was so perfect for my kitchen, that I had to buy it. What do ya'll think?

Resort

Okay, so you all know I am going back to the resort. Well, apparently they want me to start on March 31, as opposed to late april. While this is exciting because it means more money. It doesn't give my current employer much time to replace me. This could go two ways. He could be pissed because it's short notice, or he will be accommodating. I hope he's the latter, especially since I told him in December that I was starting the resort in April. So, I guess we will see what happens.

Wedding dresses

This is what my wedding dress will be. The exact color and everything. I am soooo excited.

This is the dress for my bridesmaids. In the exact color as well.

We all agree that they compliment each other nicely. What do you all think? I can take the truth really!!

Dave will be wearing a vest and tie to match my dress and the groomsmen will be wear the pewter color vests and ties.

Just a Growing Boy

Peggy asked me to post an updated photo of Cody since he's outgrown his puppy size which shows his size compared to Pepper. Believe me, it's not easy to get them both to stand still in one place side by side, but here they are and it even looks like the old man is getting a kiss from his young admirer!

Hexapus

Check out what got found off the Wales coast recently. Barb, make sure Kev sees this.

Here's the story.

Our New Fence

Fires

Are those house fires near you guys, out there in Washington? They said outside Seattle, but they didn't specify a town. Just curious.
