Hungry

Can someone please send me a meatball sub. I could really use a meatball sub right now. But remember to wrap it in tin foil, not paper towels. Please package it carefully because I don't think I would like flattened bread and meat with some sauce around, as much. Don't worry about repeats, all of you could send one if you would like.

That Looks Like A Story

Hi Everyone. Well, I've changed the name of my writing blog because I was feeling constrained by the "thousand words or less" format. The new story I just posted tops out at over 1500 words and I just did not want to hack it up. Check out the new blog at this link:

Nature's Amazing Foods

On Saturday, January 14, 2006, Susan Cannaday and I hosted (at my house) our first class showing Raw Food Prep. It was a huge success and I am thrilled and excited to watch God bring people to our class. We will be having this class the second Saturday of every month with exciting Raw Foods and Raw Desserts. Susan and I worked very well together, and she is beginning to teach me things about putting dishes together that I have not been very good at. We are enjoying this time that the Lord has given us to grow into our new ministries - whatever they might be. There were 8 people present, and we have decided that 6 is probably the most we should have.

We served a sample of Carrot Juice, then we had a Breakfast for Kids of Sweet Brown Rice Cereal, served with Creamy Banana Milk and an Asian Pear. Then, for Lunch we made Bulgar Wheat Surprise. Next came Dinner with a big Salad with two dressings, Avocado Tomato & Nayonaise...(I don't remember the name of it) Dressing. We also made Sweet Potato Soup and Broccoli Cauliflower & Bok Choy Salad. For Dessert we made Strawberry Cheesecake, Pina Colada Energy Smoothie and a Blue Smoothie. Everything turned out very well.

On Monday night's The Cannaday's and The MacKenzie's get together and enjoy a meal of mostly all raw foods. We have had some cooked food in there but we are mainly focusing on the raw cuisine. It is a wonderful time of food, fellowship and game playing. During this time Susan and I plan our meals for the next Food Prep Class, and we are working on Brochure's. I never realized how difficult putting a brochure together could be.

In March, my boss (Carol Hurley) and I will be attending Hallelujah Acres Health Minister Training so we can begin to teach the message that "You do not have to be Sick". It is an exciting time in my life and I am looking forward to see what the Lord has in store for this opportunity He has given me (us).

Karen & Carmel

Here is their story...

Carmel was Karen's assistance dog, but Karen got sick and had to go into the hospital. Unfortunately Karen was really sick and passed away but not before they moved her out of ICU to a regular room so that she could visit with Carmel. They knew she wasn't going to make it so that is what Karen wanted. Carmel was only with Karen for a little over a year so she is now back with Summit Assistance Dogs. Summit thinks that Carmel might be a good dog for me so I have to go for my second assessment day on January 26th where I will get to meet Carmel and see how we work together. If the Summit trainers think we will be good together, then team training is tentatively scheduled for sometime in April

I am pleased to announce that our book has been uploaded to the publisher and is now in production. The finished books should arrive within the next two weeks. I hope everyone will be pleased with the what we've done and will find lots of family members and friends with whom to share it. Currently I know that Tarja wanted 5 copies, David wanted 15, Chunnan wanted 1, but apparently I didn't hang onto the emails from Peggy and Fred listing how many copies they wanted. Peggy and Fred, please let me know how many copies you want. Anyone else in the family who wants one or more, please reply to this post or email me. I think everyone worked together well on this one and I am looking forward to our next volume with even more family members making contributions.

Doctor Update

Let's see what I can remember from everyone's recent doctor visits:

Dad: The nurse said his defibrillator is doing fine and that there have been no incidents. The heart doctor has asked his regular doctor to take some further x-rays of a dense spot they saw on the x-rays they did when he had the defibrillator put in. He didn't seem particularly worried, but he didn't have any old x-rays of Dad's to compare it to so it is just something to check out. Dad goes to see his regular doctor on the 17th, I believe, so will have the x-rays done then.

David: Well he is now on a low dosage of high blood pressure medicine, but the doctor sent him to a nutritionist to work on getting his borderline diabetes and high cholesterol under control. David went to the nutritionist expecting to be read the riot act, but got some mamby pamby person who said you should do this, this, and this...and here are a few brochures...call me if you have an questions. No diet plan, no food logs, no weigh-ins. Basically it was a waste of his time. I am trying to get him to get a personal trainer who will hold him accountable for what he eats and when he exercises.

Eric: He is about the same as usual with his feet. Not any worse, but not really any better either. Not to say that they haven't gotten some better since we got here, just not really any great progress lately.

Me: I went to the nutritionist today. My nutritionist basically said that there is only so much that we can do, but we'll try and see what happens. She wants me to eat as usual for the next week and write down everything I eat...don't change my eating habits like I'm trying to be good because I have to write it down. Then she gave a few suggestions on where I could cut some calories just from what I told her I eat (i.e., half a sandwich for lunch instead of a whole sandwich, a few less grapes, and add some raw veggies). I'm going back to see her at the end of the month. I also went to the pulminologist today...a very nice man. They did some breathing tests which he said were actually better than my test results I had brought from VA. However, because I am complaining of being so tired, he is concerned that I am perhaps not breathing well at night while sleeping. I explained to him why I never had the sleep study done when I was in VA (they weren't set up for someone with special needs like a bed open underneath). He didn't think it would be a problem here, but he is going to check into it.

Well I guess that covers everything I can remember. If anyone has any corrections to what I've said, please feel free to say so.

This Past Year...

This past year...

I surprised Amy on her birthday with Old man's cave and a night at a castle.

I was told I was not going to succeed in the ministry by my old boss.

I handed the president of my university a comb in front of several thousand people.

Amy and I realized we did not have a serrated knife.

Amy and I moved to West Virginia.

I started a job as a Childrens Pastor and Day Care Director.

I went water skiing and cliff diving.

I fired 5 people.

Amy and I went to Seattle

I helped officiate a funeral of a 6 month old baby.

Amy and I went to Phoenix, Arizona twice. Including a swimming session on Christmas day. Ohioians haha!!

I turned 25.

As you can see in this post some important and not so important events happened this year. This post shows something else as well...it shows that after this year I am still...
