Let's see what I can remember from everyone's recent doctor visits:
Dad: The nurse said his defibrillator is doing fine and that there have been no incidents. The heart doctor has asked his regular doctor to take some further x-rays of a dense spot they saw on the x-rays they did when he had the defibrillator put in. He didn't seem particularly worried, but he didn't have any old x-rays of Dad's to compare it to so it is just something to check out. Dad goes to see his regular doctor on the 17th, I believe, so will have the x-rays done then.
David: Well he is now on a low dosage of high blood pressure medicine, but the doctor sent him to a nutritionist to work on getting his borderline diabetes and high cholesterol under control. David went to the nutritionist expecting to be read the riot act, but got some mamby pamby person who said you should do this, this, and this...and here are a few brochures...call me if you have an questions. No diet plan, no food logs, no weigh-ins. Basically it was a waste of his time. I am trying to get him to get a personal trainer who will hold him accountable for what he eats and when he exercises.
Eric: He is about the same as usual with his feet. Not any worse, but not really any better either. Not to say that they haven't gotten some better since we got here, just not really any great progress lately.
Me: I went to the nutritionist today. My nutritionist basically said that there is only so much that we can do, but we'll try and see what happens. She wants me to eat as usual for the next week and write down everything I eat...don't change my eating habits like I'm trying to be good because I have to write it down. Then she gave a few suggestions on where I could cut some calories just from what I told her I eat (i.e., half a sandwich for lunch instead of a whole sandwich, a few less grapes, and add some raw veggies). I'm going back to see her at the end of the month. I also went to the pulminologist today...a very nice man. They did some breathing tests which he said were actually better than my test results I had brought from VA. However, because I am complaining of being so tired, he is concerned that I am perhaps not breathing well at night while sleeping. I explained to him why I never had the sleep study done when I was in VA (they weren't set up for someone with special needs like a bed open underneath). He didn't think it would be a problem here, but he is going to check into it.
Well I guess that covers everything I can remember. If anyone has any corrections to what I've said, please feel free to say so.
